She has truly been "called" to be a nurse.
#1 Going in to deliver a baby is one of the best/scariest days of a family's life. Labor and delivery nurses play an important role in how a mom remembers this special day/experience. I could not be happier with the experience and care I have received from my doctor and nurses during my past two deliveries at NEA. There is one particular L & D nurse that I believe went above and beyond her job description to make sure my experience was memorable. Candice Tansil provided exceptional care for my delivery of my first daughter and then again when I delivered my second daughter. When I arrived on the L & D floor, I was met by Candice and "J," and they had taken the time to put me in the exact same room that I was in for my first daughter. Candice also said they had lined up my night shift nurse to be the same nurse I had with my first daughter as well. She ("A") was terrific! I was there to get induced, but because I had already progressed so quickly, we knew we were probably having our daughter soon, and unfortunately, it wouldn't be with my OB since she wasn't on call. I was disappointed that I couldn't have my OB but having my previous nurses helped, and Candice reassured me the whole time that everything was fine. When we realized I was so close to delivering right after shift change, Candice decided she would stay after her shift to be with me and help. She went above and beyond to make me feel well cared for the whole time. All of the little things such as a familiar smiling faces on arrival, remembering which room we delivered in before, lining up my same night nurse, and staying 2 hours after her shift change to be with us during the birth of our daughter truly meant the world to our family. She is a great nurse who truly cares for her patients. She is very deserving of this award.
#2 Yesterday, during my delivery, was one of the worst days of my life; I had difficulty with my delivery and was in great pain and discomfort. Candace was right there encouraging me and helping me keep my spirits up. She even left lunch early and came and checked on me when I had a "breakdown." She is a God send. She is patient and understanding. She has truly been "called" to be a nurse. She never got upset or lost her temper with me as I was losing mine! I got nasty. If there was a nurse that deserved recognition, it's her. You are lucky to have her on staff!
#3 "A" and Candice were there for me during three triages in Labor and Delivery, a 38-hour labor, and an unexpected C-Section. I felt completely taken care of at every step of the process, even when the situation was out of my hands. These women went above and beyond to care for my child and me. I am so glad they were on my team. Congratulations on being our DAISY Award Winner!
