I was in the hospital for four days with recurring heart flutter. I was scheduled for a cardiac catheterization in the Cath Lab. Candy was my nurse, responsible for prepping me for the procedure. Her professionalism and kindness put me at ease for what to me was a scary procedure. After the procedure, she stayed with me and took me back to my room, where I would complete my recovery before discharge.

When transferring from the gurney to my bed, I mistakenly used my arm to push off the gurney. That movement broke open the artery in my wrist, which caused immediate and profuse bleeding. Candy immediately immobilized me and applied pressure to the wound to stem the bleeding. For 20 minutes, she applied pressure to the wound while talking to me to keep me calm. Even more special was that she came by my room later in the day to check in on me. I will always be grateful for her efforts and kindness that day.
