Cara B Keay, BSN, RN

During my stay at the hospital after breaking both of my legs, I was fortunate enough to be cared for by Cara, who has truly been the most thoughtful, compassionate, and attentive nurse I have ever had. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond in every way imaginable. Whether she was helping me move around the unit safely, assisting me with everyday tasks, or simply sitting and chatting with me to lift my spirits.

Cara made a difficult and painful experience so much more bearable through her kindness and presence. One of the moments that stood out to me the most was the day she took the time to gently braid my hair after a long day, just so it would stay out of my face and help me feel a little more like myself. It may seem like a small gesture, but to me, it meant the world.

She paid close attention not just to my medical needs, but also to my comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being. Her care felt personal and genuine, and it made all the difference in my recovery. Cara embodies exactly what the DAISY Award represents, and I am incredibly grateful to have had her by my side during such a vulnerable time.
