Cara is such a wonderful supportive nurse. As our first point of contact when something is wrong, she always takes good care of us and is so competent at what she does. Most importantly, to a parent, she takes what we say and feel seriously. She values our input and when we don't think our son is 100%, or we just have a gut feeling something is, she doesn't stop until we figure out what it is. This is SO important to a parent. Cara is a great example of what makes the St. Jude culture so special.
Recently, I called her and told her I didn't know what was wrong, but something wasn't right with my son's breathing. I asked her if she would just check him over and make sure she thought he was okay and that it would make me feel better. She said of course! I brought him in with not really many symptoms and she took the visit seriously. She knows him well enough to know something was wrong too. Along with the on-call doctor, they evaluated him. I am thankful for her and that she listened to us because my son needed to be hospitalized and needed his cardiology team at LeBonhuer. He needed a heart cath. and echo which was placed down the throat. We were inpatient 4 days. It could have been worse without Cara's actions.
