I am always in awe of this individual’s multifaceted talent as a Registered Nurse. A recent example of this includes the identification of a very ill patient. This candidate worked closely with the physician team as they were concerned from the start of the shift that something was not right with the patient. They were diligent in keeping the physician team updated on all changes in the patient’s status, including heart rate, blood pressure, and concerns for severe pain. This candidate was diligent in making sure the patient knew the team was hearing their concerns, the patient was informed of what the clinical team was doing to address the situation, and the patient was as comfortable as possible. It was this candidate’s excellent nursing assessment and skill that led to the full assessment and workup of this patient, who was then transferred to the ICU and subsequently flown to a tertiary care center as the patient had a suspected rare diagnosis of a penetrating aortic ulcer.
