29 years old with Type an aortic dissection and Loeys Dietz syndrome (connective tissue disorder) booked as E1 emergency from ICU for Bentall procedure, (Life-Saving Procedure) is a surgery to replace part of the aorta and the aortic valve of the heart because of aortic dissection.
OR team arrived @ 19:00, and the case started immediately. The surgery was very difficult and challenging for the surgical Team as well as the Anesthesia because of her disease condition. Uncontrolled bleeding from Aorta was life threatening & vascular surgeons called in & did Endovascular stenting that was not performed before in JHAH OR and the cardiac nurses helped in this procedure. The vendor was contacted @ 03:00 am to provide the required stent, which helped control patient bleeding and save the patient's life. This procedure continued until the next day's afternoon at 13:30, almost 18 hours procedure.
The teamwork during this emergency and making the patient's life the first priority resulted in an excellent outcome; the patient survived, and the surgery succeeded.
The team was very cooperative, calm, helpful, and competent to handle the emergent situation without any delay.
