I would like to nominate the Cardiac Services team for the DAISY Team Award in gratitude for their extraordinary efforts to provide compassionate care to family members of patients suffering with a cancer diagnosis.
In lieu of a Secret Santa gifting event the Cardiac Services team, led by manager Marie Horton, decided to direct their energy to those less fortunate than them. They planned a brunch for families that visit or stay at Ronald MacDonald House in New Hyde Park. They collected money to purchase all of the items needed and planned a menu. The team arrived at 9:30 and prepared a delicious spread for a Sunday brunch, including an egg taco station, pancakes, muffins, cold cuts and rolls, fruit, cookies, and beverages. The team set everything out and left prior to the families’ arrival.
