Both Ashley and Jenna were giving support to not only my mother during this time by easing her concerns and going over care plans with her, but also as support to me as her daughter while I was navigating her stay
My mom was hospitalized primarily due to psychiatric and neurological issues. After one night in the emergency department, she was placed in the cardiac stepdown unit due to lack of beds available in a more appropriate/directly applicable unit. Ashley and Jenna have been extraordinary in their care for my mother. Not only have they done their required care but continued to advocate for my mother with her provider team in order to give the most realistic picture of my mom's behaviors/demeanors. While CSU is their unit and their usual scope of knowledge, Ashley and Jenna went above and beyond to answer any questions I had or my mother had. Both Ashley and Jenna were giving support to not only my mother during this time by easing her concerns and going over care plans with her, but also as support to me as her daughter while I was navigating her stay. Specifically, Ashley's warm smile and bright demeanor brought my mom joy every time she saw her. When I was walking downstairs near the cafeteria and walking past Ashley, she recognized me and greeted me by name which was truly a breath of fresh air during this time. Jenna has been outstanding with her patience and understanding of my mother. Due to the cognitive and behavioral issues, Jenna and my mother have built a relationship where my mother trusts her fully which can be so difficult with these types of issues. Jenna and Ashley are exceptional nurses who deserve to be recognized for their efforts and for upholding Ochsner's core values.
