T was a patient in the CVICU and received excellent care from many nurses. Rikki, however, stood out the most. She approached our family in a calm and friendly manner with encouraging words. She cared for T so sweetly yet professionally. She asked what kind of TV shows and music he liked so that he could listen to them. Whenever we would call for an update on T, she was happy to give one and comforted us by letting us know they were jamming to Dave Matthews band, his favorite group. Even though we knew T no longer had blood flow to his brain and was preparing to donate his organs, she still treated my brother and family with so much love and respect. We will forever be grateful for her care and will never forget her professionalism, kindness, and compassion.

Brittany held a special place in our hearts. She studied his chart eagerly to learn more about his case and provide the best care for him. She was comforting to us and would let us know that he knew we were there as his heart rate would spike ever so slightly when we left the room, as he felt us with him, and he wanted to be strong for us. She explained in detail what each medicine and treatment was doing for him. She was professional in her patient care for our T and always made sure he was comfortable.

Lauren was a real trooper and was on Team T 100%. She was super attentive to his needs and our needs. She sat right outside his room and monitored him closely, making sure he was better than okay. She played his favorite music from the different playlists on his phone. She was there the night of T's honor walk, hugged and shed tears with us and for him. We were extremely moved by her expressions of sorrow and our loss.

Bayfront Hospital should be proud to have nurses like Rikki, Brittany, and Lauren, as patient care often extends to family care as well.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
