Leading up to the day of surgery for our 12-year-old son, we had to prep in many ways due to his anxiety. The day came and we couldn’t have asked for a better nurse to care for him and help him feel at ease. Cari was great at being his nurse advocate. When the plan that was previously discussed and our son had mentally prepared for was about to change, she communicated with anesthesia to express the needs of our son and made sure his experience was the best it could be. She was great at talking through what to expect and when to expect it. She even took the extra step to go up to the OR with our son so he had a familiar face, that meant so much to us as his parents but I also know to our son it provided the comfort he absolutely needed. The reassurance that he did great on the way back to and with the OR staff was communicated by her shortly after their ride together which was so helpful. Her white bunny suit, jokes, and wiliness to learn about pre-teen YouTube videos are just the cherry on top of the excellent care she gave us today, we can’t thank her enough.
