January 2018 Honoree
cari stewart, RN
After surgery, I was admitted to the SICU. After waking up, nurse Cari asked how I was feeling. I told her I was fine but hungry. It had been 24 hours since I had last eaten. Cari came back with a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup and some crackers. I thanked her profusely. After a while, she asked me if I was still hungry and I said yes. She then set out to find me something else to eat. She came back with a turkey and cheese sandwich which she asked me if I wanted to be heated up. I said please! Cari went out of her way to see that my simple needs were met, not just with nursing care but a simple thing like chicken noodle soup. My hope is that nurse Cari is recognized for her unselfish work in the SICU.
Thank you, Cari, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
