This fantastic lady not only works as a team within her specialist role and teaches Nurses and links the importance of good skin care, patient safety, wound care, and so on, but she also provides high-quality care to patients that she sees the wards daily. There are many patients that I have visited with Carina, but this patient's journey and the way Carina looked after him is something I will never forget. This patient has been in and out of PAH and treated by the TVN team for a few years. Carina, along the way, has established a special connection not only with this patient but with his mum and dad as well. He is a double amputee with limited upper-body strength. We have seen his health deteriorate due to infections with a severe pressure ulcer, which has caused the patient to become depressed and express that he wants to give up. Our lovely Carina, not giving up with her caring attitude and knowing the patient was also missing his dog, arranged for the dog volunteer to bring their dog to visit this patient. What a difference this made; the smile and the joy. She also sings to him, and she has the voice of an angel. You can see the smile on his face every time she visits him. She has lifted him and made him believe that regardless of the challenges he faces, everything is achievable, and his pressure ulcers are healing thanks to the professionalism and expertise of Carina and the TVN team. Carina always goes above and beyond, not only for her patients but for her colleagues as well. She is committed and caring, shows compassion, and strives to make everyone believe in themselves, especially when having bad days. Carina deserves this award as many patients suffer from loneliness, the unknown, mental health, and helplessness, and I have seen with my own eyes how she works miracles to turn these feelings around and bring patients smiles and trust back.

Carina is a Tissue Viability Specialist who has been a great model to me and the staff through out many years of being in PAH. She inspired me to reach my dream job, which I enjoy now. Working with her has made me love my role despite the challenges that come with it. She inspires me to come to work because I don't have to worry about the shift as long as she is around. She is very passionate about her role, reaching the kind of expertise she has now. She is very good at communicating with patients and very smart in identifying their needs and providing solutions. She is always patient-centered and loves to share her knowledge with everyone who benefits from it. She goes above and beyond just to provide the appropriate care for the patients. She remains humble in spite of all the compliments that she always receives. Patients often have remembered her because of the impact she had on them, and I couldn't agree more. I aspire to be like her someday. I believe that she deserves this award as she depicts the values of trust and more.
