Not long ago, we encountered a particularly challenging situation involving a bariatric patient in need of skilled nursing placement. Despite the complexities and obstacles, Carisa took proactive steps, reaching out to every facility on the skilled nursing list until a suitable placement was secured. Recognizing the unique transportation needs of the patient, she ingeniously arranged for a rendezvous between ambulances to ensure safe and efficient transport. This gesture was deeply appreciated by both the patient and their family.

Another striking demonstration of Carisa’s exceptional patient care occurred recently when we had a patient admitted for an extended period, culminating in major abdominal surgery. Coordinating various specialized treatments, such as wound care and a wound vacuum, which were not routine for our unit, presented significant challenges. However, Carisa tackled these hurdles head-on, leveraging her resourcefulness and communication skills to ensure seamless coordination among providers. Her proactive approach even extended to arranging for a hospital wound vac, going above and beyond her duties to ensure optimal care for the patient despite the evolving nature of the treatment plan.
