Carissa is an extraordinary nurse that always takes the time to make her patients feel cared for, like they are her only priority. Not every nurse has that gift. Carissa had an unusual circumstance recently with a patient that wanted to surrender her newborn after delivery. This was a young woman, and she needed to have a very compassionate, non-judgmental nurse like Carissa. Carissa had to do a lot of information gathering to be ready for this patient's delivery. She had to collaborate with other departments about the plan of care, to make everything go smoothly. I am sure whatever situation this woman was going through was scary and uncertain, but having Carissa with her probably eased her mind tremendously. Carissa practices giving compassionate care to our patients here at Henry Ford Allegiance Health every day, we can all learn a lot from her great nursing practice!
