Carissa is a very hard worker, not only does she do a nurse job. But she steps up to help with patient care, such as CMA duties. She will go beyond her job description to help her peers. She makes sure everyone is doing ok. As not just a lead nurse, she also listens to us as a friend, to hear us for personal issues that we go through. She is a nice and friendly person to work with, and helpful. She wears many hats for her job. We love having her as our lead nurse.

Carissa is the Clinical Nurse for the Internal Medicine Clinic. As the charge nurse, she manages the workflow of her clinic and provides direct patient care. She works with other Departments to ensure safe, and quality care is delivered in a timely manner. Carissa does not hesitate to step in and assist her team with direct patient care or assisting with other clinic matter. She ensures monthly audits and stats are submitted at the end of the month. Carissa works closely with the other clinic RNs to provide coverage and guidance for IM Clinic, FM Clinic, and Primary Care Annex. Carissa displays teamwork by staying in constant communication with her clinic team and providers. She treats everyone she encounters with respect and dignity. If she has questions or concerns, Carissa does not hesitate to ask her Program Director for guidance or clarification. Carissa has helped implement many projects like the Patient Centered Medical Home, opening clinic access by absorbing same-day slots in Internal Medicine Clinic, preparing her clinic for Joint Commission Surveys, implementing Tele Pulmonary Clinic and Integrated Mental Health clinic. Carissa always provides safe, compassionate care to her patients.
