Carissa Park, RN, BSN

When I was rolled in after my cerclage removal surgery, Carissa was the nurse I met on duty. She welcomed me graciously. She acknowledged that I wanted to deliver a preterm baby that would not be resuscitated. I was not in a good mental health state, but she assured me of my safety and understood my pain. Through all of this, she worked tirelessly, diligently, and passionately, understanding my current mental state. She engaged me in conversation to distract me from my critical condition. Carissa went through my emotions with me. When I told Carissa about my cramp and pain during contractions, she was very proactive. I was at a point where I was stressing her out on the job. She assured me not to be sorry; it is her job. She was always here providing solutions to my pain. At some point, my contractions became serious. I called her, and she was with me until delivery took place. She called other nurses and the doctor for help. The delivery spanned through her closing time. Given the number of nurses, I expected her to excuse herself by going home. After all, she had completed her shift. She waited for over two hours to ensure I was stable. She gave my spouse a healing hug; it was very thoughtful of her. Thank you, Carissa, for being willing to go over and beyond the call of duty.
