In 2021, Carissa was my nurse when we were in L&D about to deliver my first son. She was kind and caring and made sure I was comfortable in every aspect. My labor story ends with me needing an emergency c-section due to an unforeseen situation. She’s a major part of why I’m still here today. If she hadn’t done what she did in that room and listened to me, I feel as if wouldn’t be here. My husband later on told me that she wasn’t able to accompany me in the operating room, but this woman stood outside that room to make sure I was going to be okay.

Two years later in May 2023 she accompanied me into the OR for a repeat c-section for my second son. I was able to be awake for this one and when I started to feel extremely anxious she held my hand (which she did not have to do but she did immediately when I held it out to her) until my husband was able to join me. She asked if she could do anything else to make me comfortable, and I asked for music and she did it which helped so much. On top of that, she was the one who caught my son and got him to take his first breaths, and I could not be more grateful for such an amazing nurse to have in such a wonderful lineup of staff that helped make our second and last labor and delivery experience a successful one.

So I wanted to nominate her for going above and beyond every expectation I had going into both of my deliveries. Thank you Carissa for everything you do and everything you are!! Keep being wonderful.
