On ONU, we had a patient's wife become extremely confused and upset. The patient's wife stated that her husband and son are mean to her, and she was crying. Carl was the charge nurse and was concerned about her, so he contacted the manager to help file an APS report. He stayed by her side for hours (even though he was charge and had so many other things going on) and ensured she remained safe. Carl provided, not only the patient extraordinary service but also the patient's wife. He was very committed to ensuring they both remained safe. He collaborated with the entire healthcare team, security, and Billings Police Department to find the best route of care for this patient. With all that Carl had going on with his charge responsibilities and this patient's wife, he was able to maintain a positive attitude. He genuinely portrays all the outstanding attributes of a role model for Billings Clinic. He advocated that we try to allow her to stay the night because it was the safest option for her at the time.
