Simply outlining Carla's achievements and commitments barely touches on the impact she has had on lives every single day.
This week we are celebrating the career of Carla Cox, Vice President, and Chief Nursing Officer, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. After 40 years of nursing experience, 15 years of leadership in the East Central Region, and overseeing more than 900 nurses, Carla will retire on Friday, February 4, 2022. Carla came to IU Health Ball as an Administrative Director in 2006. During this time, she provided leadership to seven inpatient units and an outpatient infusion center. She led initiatives to transform the intensive care unit and med/surg units, created and led the value analysis team to standardize med/surg supplies, and developed processes to standardize care delivery throughout the organization. She was also involved in the planning, development, and implementation of the South Tower. Prior to her role as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Carla led the hospital's Office of Transformation.

Carla's leadership was instrumental in IU Health Ball's journey to receiving Magnet recognition for nursing excellence in 2018. With this prestigious achievement, the hospital joined the global Magnet community-a select group including just 477 U.S. Magnet-recognized organizations out of over 6300 hospitals in the U.S. Simply outlining Carla's achievements and commitments barely touches on the impact she has had on lives every single day. Her joyful presence and palpable passion for her nurses, patients, and work are beyond what most can embody. It has been our privilege to have you here. Happy Retirement, Carla!
