Carla Goncalves

Carla was selected to win the Student Nurse DAISY Award based on the compassion and care that extended beyond her clinical assignment on a Burn Unit. The patient who was admitted only spoke Portuguese. Carla applied her multi-lingual skills to help the patient understand the daily activity of the hospital, and about the treatments he would be receiving. In addition to her own clinical assignment, she continued to check on this person throughout the day, to be a friend, to offer a smile, and to provide reassurance. Carla went above and beyond her call of duty to meet the needs of another person.
