Her calming voice and compassionate touch helped to alleviate my fears.
I was brought to ER from my doctor's office for severe pain and weakness. In ER, tests were ordered to rule out blood clots or fractures. An ultrasound of my right leg was done and also a CT scan of my pelvis and right hip/leg. Both were done by radiology and I was admitted to the hospital to try to control pain and weakness. My week was painful and I struggled. One night, I had an episode of pain and spasms of both legs that was the worst pain I had had thus far. It was more than I could handle and I totally broke down. My nurse was Carla Horn. She was so patient and compassionate with me and made every effort to get me help and was very supportive. She tried some unique ideas to try to alleviate the pain, even making a "weighted blanket" to calm the spasms all the while reassuring me I was going to be ok. Her calming voice and compassionate touch helped to alleviate my fears. She has helped me through several rough patches in my 11 days here and I knew I could trust her. She was calm, confident, compassionate, caring, and able to communicate my needs. I would trust her with my life.
