Carla is recognized by her peers for her knowledge and leadership skills. Carla is constantly looking for ways to improve our processes such as traffic control in the OR and maintaining sterility in the OR to prevent SSI, all of this ensures patient safety and satisfaction. She has been a preceptor for our new employees for many years. She is a great team player building positive relationships between staff and physicians. She is an excellent patient advocate. She is able to develop a good relationship with her patients and their families using humor to make them feel comfortable and at ease.
Carla is our Ortho, Neuro and Podiatry Resource Nurse for the OR. She has developed wonderful working relationships with the surgeons and vendors and works closely with them to make sure that we have all of the equipment and supplies we need for our ortho/neuro/podiatry cases. She also meets with new surgeons making sure we have what they need and makes them feel welcome and at home. She has been instrumental in developing our Ortho Total Joint program to what it is today including CHI Health Mercy Hospital achieving the TJC Advanced Hip and Knee certification this past year. Carla's dedication to her profession and especially to the Mercy Operating Room is obvious by her daily contribution at work putting patient care first and practicing and modeling our Core Values. Carla is a valuable member of our surgical team.
