Carla dedicated nearly an hour to conversing with and de-escalating a dysregulated patient. Throughout the interaction, she demonstrated remarkable respect, kindness, and empathy. In addition, Carla was able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor even in a challenging situation. Witnessing her handle this situation so adeptly, in addition to managing her numerous supervisory responsibilities, was truly impressive.

Because of Carla’s exceptional patience and skill, the situation was resolved without the need for any further interventions. This not only showcases her ability to manage complex and stressful circumstances but also highlights her deep commitment to the well-being of her patients. Her actions prevented potential escalation and ensured the patient felt heard and understood, reinforcing a safe and supportive environment.

This incident is just one of many that I have witnessed that truly exemplify Carla's unwavering dedication. I am consistently impressed by her willingness to place the needs of patients and staff above her own. The DAISY Award highlights nurses who are both compassionate and extraordinary. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition than Carla. I am confident anyone who has come under her care would agree.
