I had to have an emergency C-section and afterward I went to postpartum. Carleigh was my nurse it seems throughout the whole stay there. I know she wasn't there some nights, but it seemed like she was.
On day 2 or 3, I woke up around 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning short of breath. I had never had a big surgery like this so I just thought maybe this was normal. I waited until they made rounds and my mom told them that I had been short of breath. I begged her not to call the doctor because I didn't think it was anything and that I would tell the doctor when she came in that morning. Well, thank goodness Carleigh didn't listen to me. She called the doctor on call. I had to be taken to the main unit by ambulance and I was scared to death. I think Carleigh knew this so she rode to the hospital and stayed with me the whole time, even though she was busy and it was getting close to shift change. I could not have been more appreciative. I had to be transferred back to L&D that day and I don't think Carleigh knew this, but I begged them to let her be my nurse.
I don't know exactly what it was about Carleigh, but both my mom and I felt so comfortable with her and I never wanted for anything with her. I always knew that she was taking immaculate care of not only me but my baby and my mom as well. I haven't had a chance to talk to her since being in the hospital, but I would like for her to know that I was comforted by her being my nurse that stay. I was so extremely impressed with her and if I ever do it again, I will for sure request her as my nurse. Carleigh deserves the DAISY Award so much!

Thank you, Carleigh, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
