Carley Duhaime, RN

I would like to nominate Carley, a PICU nurse, for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary care, urgency, and composure they demonstrated during a critical event. During a rapidly deteriorating situation, our patient began actively desaturating and was not recovering despite ongoing interventions. The room immediately became tense as every second mattered. Without hesitation, she recognized exactly what was needed, literally jumped over a chair to reach critical equipment, and sprang into action with remarkable speed and confidence.

What stood out most was not only the quick physical response, but the calm leadership and clinical judgment shown under immense pressure. While others were understandably alarmed, Carley remained focused, efficient, and completely committed to the patient’s safety. Their actions helped ensure that lifesaving interventions were delivered without delay. In the PICU, families and team members place enormous trust in nurses during the most frightening moments imaginable. Carley embodied everything exceptional nursing should be: courage, skill, urgency, teamwork, and compassion under pressure. The image of them leaping into action to protect their patient is something none of us will forget. They deserve recognition through the DAISY Award for going above and beyond in a moment when their dedication and rapid response truly made a difference.
