As nurses, we learn that life is precious, and we often jump in to help others without a second thought. She is a prime example of someone who does that on a regular basis. One night, a patient and her husband were enjoying one of Bay Care's famous turkey sandwiches. She brought them food because they had been in the department for several hours. Shortly after, the call light came on, and she saw that the patient's husband was in the doorway, holding his throat, making the sign of choking. She immediately started the Heimlich maneuver, clearing his airway. The patient's husband was okay and refused to be seen as a patient himself. When I found out about the situation and asked her about it, she did not think it was a big deal, just part of her job. She wholeheartedly puts her patients (and their families) first, and it shows in the work she does. She is Extraordinary. Thank you!
