I have a patient, a 12 year old girl, with cerebral palsy and history of auto immune disease (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis-ADEM). Due to some miscommunication between staff, almost no preparation was done by the time she was supposed to have a lumbar puncture at 0900. Carli was assigned to help me prepare the girl for the procedure. She was extremely efficient and had everything ready to go within 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the patient was unable to receive numbing medication to make the procedure more comfortable. As she could not be sedated for the procedure, she was scared and sobbing. Carli was able to console the girl and act as a child life specialist, and help her remain still and at peace while the LP was performed.

Without Carli's efficiency and wonderful demeanor, the procedure would have to be rescheduled causing inconvenience to the patient and family. She not only helped me but made the day for one disabled child. Carli was so efficient to help me accomplish my procedure and did it without acting stressed.
