Carlie cared for F before and after emergency gallbladder surgery and what stood out to F was that Carlie treated her with kindness, compassion, and competency which truly made a meaningful difference to her experience as a patient. Carlie alleviated F's fear and anxiety with her kindness and education along with her confidence, professionalism, and empathy. Carlie always had a big smile for both F and her family and frequently asked if F needed anything while bringing her fresh ice water, warm blankets, and pain medications. She answered her many questions and concerns with patience and professionalism and assured F of a full recovery by following the instructions that Carlie and the doctors gave to her. F said that Carlie gave her hope that there are authentic caring people in this world and that Carlie is a #1 role model for everything an extraordinary nurse stands for.
