Carly was at the Newburg Clinic when she noticed an older woman in a wheelchair who was sitting outside of the clinic. Carly took an interest when the woman was not picked up right away. The woman was waiting for her scheduled ride from RMTD Paratransit, and they ended up being over an hour late picking her up. Carly called Paratransit several times. Carly spoke with the patient, staying with her to ensure her comfort and safety. She made the case management team aware that she couldn’t reach Paratransit and was already strategizing alternatives. Paratransit did finally arrive, and the patient was extremely grateful for Carly’s act of kindness. Carly went above and beyond to make sure this patient was safe and able to get home.

Being a UWNI employee is not just about providing great care during an appointment or hospital stay. It’s also about caring for our patients, even if they are outside our doors, showing compassion, and placing our patients above the list of work you have left to do for the day. Carly is a great example of great patient care.
