My family went through a whirlwind hospital stay with my husband's recent illness. Carly took such good care of my husband, talking to him and empowering him in his care as much as he could be, though he was quickly declining. I felt she went above and beyond in looking out for me, my daughter, and other visiting family members. She offered to feed him for us and made sure we knew we could call her whenever he needed anything, no matter how often he wanted to have his bed position changed. My 11-year old daughter was uncomfortable seeing her formerly healthy dad in his new condition, but when coaxed to come in and say hello, Carly made easy conversation with her which made my daughter relax. This helped my child cope with the new situation.
When my husband was placed on Comfort Care, Carly continued to give him just as much attention, ensuring that his medicines were adequate and helping us reach doctors when needed. When he was moved out of critical care, she did her best to make us feel comfortable with the move, communicating everything that she could have thought of to the nurses on the new floor.
Having my young husband enter the hospital with a stroke, get diagnosed with aggressive cancer throughout his body, go on Hospice and die all in a span of two weeks was quite shocking. Carly is a memory of our stay at the hospital that gives me comfort. I know that he was well taken care of and we felt cared for as well.
