Carly was our labor and delivery nurse during a long and difficult labor. We are in our early 40's and never thought we would be able to have a child. Needless to say, we were thrilled, but "didn't know what we didn't know" and were nervous and apprehensive during a long labor. All the nurses were very helpful and patient, but Carly really made us comfortable. She was in the room for probably 5 hours straight, including coaching and encouraging during a full 3 hours of pushing. Every time my wife felt that she had nothing left energy wise, Carly gently prodded her to "dig deep" and stick to our wishes of naturally delivering our baby. She managed the birth masterfully with compassion and care for beyond someone just "doing their job". We realize that nurses are extremely special, but Carly really went far beyond our expectations in keeping us calm, focused, and ensuring that our beautiful baby daughter was delivered healthy and safe. After the birth, she stayed in the room at least 2 more hours checking on the baby and managing my wife's pain, and then checked in throughout the night.
