When Carol began taking care of our son on his first morning in step-down, we were so grateful to be receiving care from a nurturing, caring person. Mother to mother, she helped me feel confident in the care my son was receiving. She related to me, my husband, and my son on a personal, almost familial level. She was always on top of checking on my son, giving him his medications on time, and always asking if we needed anything.

Carol took the time to listen to any concerns we had with empathy and always made suggestions that were thoughtful and helpful. I was relieved each day I came in and found that Carol was his nurse for the day. My son spent 3 days in step-down, and she was his nurse all 3 days. I don't know if that was intentional, but I thought it was a great way to provide consistent care for patients. It's nice to feel like you're getting to know the caregivers. Carol will remain special to us, as she was very comforting during an incredibly difficult time in our lives.
