She has been a teacher, mentor, colleague, confidante, role model, supporter, and cheerleader, to hundreds of nurses throughout her continued career as a nurse.
Dr. Boswell began her nursing career 48 years ago, working on a labor and delivery unit in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech with a master's in science and nursing (MSN) in 1991 and an Education Doctorate in 1995. Her contributions to the nursing profession and the local nursing community are beyond numerous. She has been a teacher, mentor, colleague, confidante, role model, supporter, and cheerleader, to hundreds of nurses throughout her continued career as a nurse.

One nurse said, "Dr. Boswell listens to nurses and helps guide them to find answers while never making them doubt themselves" for asking a question and valuing their opinion and input."

She has supported budding authors mentoring them thru the process of writing and submitting articles to peer-reviewed journals and is more than willing to co-author. Dr. Boswell has been a strong supporter of shared governance since its inception at Midland Memorial Hospital and was an original member of the EBP Research council, and has been the hospital's nurse researcher for several years.

One nurse stated: "I first heard her name in 2009 when I had her as a professor at TTUHSC in my baccalaureate program. I remember being impressed before I met her because she wrote the textbook for evidence-based practice (EBP). I had no idea I would continue to learn and work with her for the next 13 years. Even now, she is mentoring me with my DNP project. I consider her a living legend and hope to continue to be influenced by her as I grow as a professional nurse."

Dr. Boswell continues to use her nursing skills as a volunteer on medical missions with her church and was a volunteer at the mass vaccination clinic mixing and administering covid-19 vaccines.

As I reflect on how she impacted my professional career, I have several examples float thru my mind: sitting in a courtroom in Andrew's Texas when a Winkler County nurse was on trial for reporting a physician's unsafe practice; mentoring me when I joined the TNA CNE committee as a reviewer; listening to me when I doubted myself and telling me I had value, and challenging me when I wanted to discuss changing nursing and how things are done; caring for me as we traveled internationally to present at a Sigma Research conference.
