Carol was my angel after this terrible experience I had, she has a way of staying calm and is easy going which only helps me stay calm.
I was admitted on a Wednesday and Carol was my nurse on Friday. I have bad anxiety and I think she recognized that immediately. Her calm and easy going demeanor made it easy for me to trust her. She was able to help me lower my blood pressure enough for the doctor to be comfortable sending me home for 24 hours before induction was started. Which was a huge deal because I didn't have anything ready that I would have needed before and after birth. I truly thought I was going for an NST and would be out the same day. Fast forward to the following Tuesday morning. After having the traumatic birth on Monday afternoon and having a nurse that made me more anxious right after surgery I was completely defeated. Until I woke up on Tuesday morning and Carol was standing in my room. There was something about seeing a familiar face that really changed everything for me. I think in my drugged haze I told her she was a sight for sore eyes. I cannot express the relief I felt because I knew how she has treated me in the past and I just felt a huge weight off my shoulders because I knew I could trust her. Carol was my angel after this terrible experience I had, she has a way of staying calm and is easy going which only helps me stay calm. She is kind and compassionate and honest. She didn't sugar coat the pain I was experiencing but did assure me that it would pass in time. I was able to have her be my nurse the following day as well and I think I did 72 hours of recovery in those 24 hours of her taking care of me. Anxiety is a problem that has plagued me my whole life, then being in a traumatic situation made the anxiety worse. Carol was able to recognize the power of being calm and how that affects the people around her. She will forever be a part of my birth story!!!
