It's not always about treating the physical problems... it's also about treating a person's soul. Carol was uplifting and fun to be around.
C was admitted to the hospital, and the next day, he had Carol as his nurse. The reason I've nominated Carol for the DAISY Award is because she was hands down one of the best nurses that we have encountered during our ordeal. When you first encounter Carol, you first notice her accent. … she's from England. My family has roots from there, so it was an easy start to a conversation. Over the time Carol was C's nurse, she was extremely nice and helpful. She gave him advice on how to eat to help control flair-ups. It's not always about treating the physical problems... it's also about treating a person's soul. Carol was uplifting and fun to be around. C really enjoyed her as his nurse and talked about if he had to be in the hospital, at least she was a comfort. At this time, his heart has recovered but he still has a long way to go regarding the UC. As C's mom, it's not a situation I ever thought I would ever have to witness with my son - however, the one sweet spot is nurses like Carol.
