Carol Hermes is an exceptional nurse. She expertly works not only as a floor nurse, but also orients new staff and students, works in the relief charge role, as well as the resource nurse role. She is very flexible and professional in each position. Carol is an expert at facilitating teamwork and at the same time ensuring that the care she gives her patients is of the highest quality. Patient safety, comfort, and clinical outcomes are her priority.

One example of her superior patient care was on a shift recently where a patient experienced an adverse complication from a procedure. She very calmly ensured that the patient was clinically stable by working with her fellow nurses, as well as the physician and diagnostic imaging. She helped facilitate communication between the patient, his family, and the doctor which eased the worry of the patient and his family. Carol was able to prioritize her workload to ensure the excellent care of this patient and also balance out her other duties to facilitate the patient flow of the unit. Thanks to Carol's superior clinical skills, communication, and concern for the well being of her patient, he not only had a good outcome, but complimented me (her direct supervisor) on the care he received.
