Carol has been a nurse at St. Mary’s Healthcare for over 30 years. She is a professional role model for all staff. She always wears white and her nursing cap. Patients love her and families seek her out when they have questions.

Carol is well respected by all St. Mary’s Healthcare associates. She is a Chemo Nurse and has assisted in orienting many other nurses in giving chemo. She is very thorough and advocates for her patients. She will stand toe-to-toe with physicians to assure her patients receive what they need. Carol lives the Mission of St. Mary’s Healthcare every day. She has received many positive thank you notes from staff, patients and families. She is dedicated to the profession of nursing and does not hesitate in helping with orienting new nurses and other staff.

Carol does a wonderful job with communicating and caring for the dying patient and their family. She will go out of her way to assure they are getting everything they need. Carol was nominated for the “Nurse of Excellence” award last year and received this award. When you are working with such a caring nurse, it just makes your day. You know she is there for the patient and it makes all the difference. Carol is the nurse you would want to take care of you or your family. That is why we think Carol should be the recipient of this very special award. Carol is a very “special nurse.” Carol also is a staff advocate. She works to see that if staff has a need due to an unforeseen problem, they get the help they need. She will talk to other staff and get them to work with her to help a peer. Many times this is done without that staff member even realizing that she was the driver.

Each year, Carol can be seen in the community assisting one of our local physicians and his wife in promoting and obtaining donations for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. She will reach out to anyone in the community who needs assistance. Carol is the “Nurse’s Nurse.” She is here to help everyone and she does.
