I only had Carol as a nurse for one night, but she made a big impact on me. I was feeling nervous and unsure of things and she had a calm, cool presence. There’s not one specific instance that sticks out – it’s just that she did everything right! From the moment she came to get me from the ER, Carol explained everything that she was doing and everything that was going to be happening. Carol made sure I had all of my basic needs met from food to the temperature of the room. Carol paid close attention to how I reacted to the IV meds and remembered this for next time, purposefully delivering them slower so I wasn’t quite as “knocked out.” Carol asked questions about my family and shared (appropriately) about her own, treating me like a person first – not just a patient.
