When talking about Carol there are so many things that make her not only extraordinary but also one of the best nurses I have ever met and had the privilege to work with. Carol, in her everyday work, gives so much time care, and compassion for each and every one of her patients. She is skilled in the art of nursing that encompasses not only the patient but the entire family. Carol spends time with her patients to ensure that all their needs are met, she talks to members as if they were her family, every member feels special, on one occasion she went above and beyond to ensure the member had safe housing and meals to eat. As we know there are many of our elderly who suffer from food insecurity and live on a fixed income. Carol makes sure that our in-need members are set up with the resources they need to thrive prior to leaving our office doors and follows up with them. Each and every day she goes above and beyond here at Lakewood educating our team, taking on a new graduate orientation, teaching, and guiding.

We can all use more nurses like Carol. Her compassion and empathy are contagious. Another time we had a member with a large brain tumor needing transport to the hospital, in the middle of our first Covid surge. He was refusing the hospital due to his wife who was blind in the car, who could not drive herself home. Carol used her magic persuasion, to ensure that we would get his wife home safely and the best thing for the family is that he goes to the hospital with the concerning symptoms that he had, the safest thing was to get him care at the hospital and her home with family.

These are just a few examples of the above and beyond member care that Carol Delatorre demonstrates, teaches, and gives to our family at Lakewood Primary Care every day. Let alone the care and love that she gives to her family, friends, coworkers, and everyone that has ever met her. Thank you, Carol, for all you do here at Lakewood.
