Carol Slaven, RN

I have been on this ward about 8 or 9 times over the past few years. Every nurse here has always done a good job. While I was here this time, Carol was an excellent nurse for me! I was being discharged today, and without the commitment to excellence and advocacy that Carol has, I would have been coming here to go to the wrong hotel the day before my surgery. The day before my surgery was a holiday, and I would not have been able to find the proper hotel, or it would have been very difficult. Carol discovered that I was given a paper that had the wrong hotel on it. She contacted the department that had made the mistake so they would know in the future and explained that the VA contract had changed to prevent this from happening again. She got me the proper information for the hotel, which is vital for me so I can be here for my surgery. Also, in every area, from medication to transportation to helping me navigate preparing for an amputation of my left leg above the knee, Carol has been and is an awesome nurse, and I feel she should get special recognition for that!
