Carol Tamenne 11N is a nursing leader on our floor and is an amazing definition of a leader. She is a natural-born leader and follows the "do as I do not as I tell you" rule. Recently, we had a transplant patient with some unforeseen complications that continued to bring the patient back to the OR. While the teamwork was great, his wife was pregnant and going to Magee to give birth to his baby girl. The patient was going to miss the birth of his little girl. Carol went out of her way to set up a computer camera at Magee and a computer camera at Montefiore so the husband/patient could be with his wife for his little girls' birthday.
This is one of the many examples of how this nurse is excellent and an amazing leader. There is not a day when Carol leaves on time due to her commitment to patient care. She would rather help the nurse on the floor rather than go home on time; she helps pass meds, hang TPN, vitals and make assignments. She is extraordinary in her care of her patients and staff. I am honored to nominate her and so fortunate to learn from this amazing role model.
