I was recently diagnosed with DCIS. Carolene has helped me maintain a positive attitude about this disease from the beginning because of her knowledge, experience, and her genuine compassion. She was the one who broke the news to me - and I cannot begin to tell you how glad I am that the news came from her. When she told me that the path report came back showing DCIS in the right breast - she was able to answer all my questions with honesty, expertise, and compassion. She has guided me through the process as tests/biopsy results have been received. She has listened to me complain and compliment the processes and providers. Carolene promptly responds to all of my phone calls. She is a friend and co-worker but most of all she is a brilliant nurse. She will be retiring soon and I think presenting her with a DAISY Award would be an incredible way to honor one of Trinity's most valuable, exceptional nurses.
