There was one time, in particular, I had run out of K-Cups, and Caroline knew what kind of coffee I liked, so while I was getting something to eat, she made me coffee and had it waiting for me when I got back to our room.
Caroline is an absolutely amazing nurse. She was fantastic with my daughter during her stay in the NICU. Although she wasn’t the first nurse we got to meet, she was the first nurse that made us feel “at home;” as home as you can be in a hospital. She is personable and down-to-earth. Having a conversation with her is like having a conversation with an old friend. All of our conversations were enjoyable and memorable, and we could talk about anything and everything. She was always sympathetic to the situations we were going through and offered the best advice that she could give. She encouraged me to take care of myself because she was there to take care of my daughter.

Over the last couple of months, I can say that I have gained Caroline as a life-long friend. Her compassion, kindness, and gentleness are shown in how she takes care of her patients. I could tell she cared for my daughter as she would have her own if her daughter had been in the NICU. There were many times I walked into the room in the morning to find books on the side table from reading to her. I have seen them snuggling in the recliner, or Caroline holding my sleeping daughter while she was getting some charting done. She always went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and as stress-free as possible.

There was one time, in particular, I had run out of K-Cups, and she knew what kind of coffee I liked, so while I was getting something to eat, she made me coffee and had it waiting for me when I got back to our room. Although it was a small gesture, it made my day that much better. I didn’t feel like just another person in the NICU; I felt like family. My daughter grew to love her and always enjoyed seeing her when she worked. We will definitely miss her but do plan to keep in contact through social media and possible in-person visits when we visit family.
