Dear Caroline, a belated but nonetheless a sincere expression of appreciation for the time you spent with me upon my discharge from Middlesex Hospital. My delay in contacting you is a result of me dealing with some new medical problems requiring pretty rigorous attention. The good news is that I am on the mend and feeling pretty much better and can now attend to matters delayed. Under separate cover, I have written a letter to all of the staff expressing my appreciation for the kindness rendered to me by the staff.
Many years ago while attending the Marine Corps Officers candidate school I became aware of the motto of the program. It is, “Ductus Exemplo'' which translates from Latin to “Leadership by Example."
