February 2023 Honoree
Carolyn Dickman, RN, BSN, CEN
Carolyn was our nurse in the Emergency Department when my husband was brought in for a stroke. I say our nurse because even though I am a nurse, she treated me as the wife of a patient going through a very scary and stressful event. Carolyn was caring, professional, and completely on task from the second we arrived till my husband's discharge. Her excellent nursing care is the reason that my husband's stroke deficits are minor after having a massive stroke.
Carolyn took the time to explain everything she and the other staff were doing while listening to and answering the questions we had. The time we spent in the Emergency Department was not long, but I felt that everything ran exactly the way it needed to get the best outcome. I honestly believe that Carolyn's excellent care and attention to detail is the reason my husband is alive today. I am writing this because my husband asked me to, he also believes Carolyn saved his life. We will forever be grateful for the amazing nurse she is. Aurora is lucky to have such an amazing and caring human working for them.
