I came into the hospital and was really nervous. I met Carolyn, and immediately she made me feel respected and comfortable. I'm a transgender male and was nervous about asking nurses to use my pronouns and the name I identify with, but Carolyn was extremely respectful and kind about it. I hadn't seen my mom in a long time, and I was extremely nervous. Carolyn took the time to speak to me about her children and offered advice for my visit that I took, and it made it so much easier. Carolyn made my stay at the hospital so much more enjoyable, comfortable and inspiring. She also left a note in my room after we talked for a while, saying she wanted to meet my family, and Carolyn did. They adored Carolyn and said they were happy I had her to care for me. I couldn't have agreed more. Carolyn showed me that healing isn't just about medicine. It's about connecting with others and being true to yourself and also focusing on spiritual healing. I was blessed to be in her care. During my stay, there were a few times Carolyn came in to check on me before she went home after her shift, despite being in another unit and that meant so much to me. If it were up to me, Carolyn would have 50 DAISY Awards!

There are not enough words in Webster Dictionary to describe this unique and loving nurse. She is the most caring person I have ever met. God sent her my way!
