As I awakened, I noticed 6 or 7 people over my bed waking me up. My nurse Carolyn was telling me that I passed out. So I called my son who had stepped out. While waiting for my son to return, I heard someone saying they think that maybe the extra blood pressure medicine may have caused this and Carolyn responded that she'd never heard of such a small amount causing someone to pass out. My son returned about 20 minutes later as I'm laying down. I asked him for something to eat because I had been laying down for about for about 4 or 5 hours resting after my liver biopsy. My son started teasing me with a cookie. I lifted up to get the cookie, take a bite, and pass out again. My son thinks I'm playing, eyes open and fixed and he tried to move my arms give me water. No response. Now he knows something is wrong. Carolyn came to the rescue again.
The doctors ordered a CT scan to check my stomach and head. So Carolyn rushed me down. As soon as I got back to my room they called back and said they needed to do another CT scan with contrast. So off I go with Carolyn. This time, while in the CT machine water starts to leak out on me. I call and say it's leaking and they stop the CT (they were just finishing up). Now I'm starting to freak out. I looked to Carolyn and she calmed me down again. We get back upstairs and the doctors want to give me some blood. I started to panic, so I looked to Carolyn, and she reassured me that everything was going to be OK. Mind you its 2 hours after her shift ended. So then she stayed to start the blood transfusion. My son was so shaken up, she stayed and talked to him too. She is my hero. Carolyn Lee, thank you for being there for me.
