Carolyn greeted me with a smile and a kind bedside manner. Due to my sickle cell disease, I have had numerous hospital stays. This is the first time in 47 years a nurse touched my soul. I did not even get a chance to use my call button because nurse Carolyn came into my room periodically. She kept me informed about what was about to happen and talked to me, not at me. She has a calmness about her that made me feel safe and relaxed.
