Carolyn Smith is amazing at her role as a case manager every weekend she works. She is responsible for patients being discharged appropriately and achieving length of stay goals, even on the weekends. She works meticulously, as fast as the speed of lightening; it is a pleasure to work with her. Carolyn communicates effectively the patients' plan of care and especially a patient’s disposition. She has the magic to arrange early ambulance pick-up times. She routinely demonstrates the meaning of throughput by emptying in-patient beds so the ER patients can be admitted in a timely manner. Carolyn handles difficult patients with ease. When a patient refuses to be discharged, Carolyn always comes to the rescue. She convinces patients to make their own decisions for safe discharges with confidence and grace. When Carolyn’s name is mentioned in the unit in front of physicians, it is unanimous: “She is the best”.
