Carolyn Walker, LPN

Carol Walker works late evenings providing extended hours care. She closes out messages for the day. A patient called with c/o weakness on one side, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The patient thought she had COVID. The triage nurse told the patient she had an appointment the next day - but it was a Wellness visit. This information did not sit well with Carolyn. She called the nurse Supervisor at home and was advised to contact the provider on call. The provider called back immediately and dispositioned the patient to the ER. Since the patient lived alone, Carolyn conferenced in her daughter. Then called 911 and assisted in getting the patient to the ER. Diagnosis CVA. Great catch Ms. Carolyn! Thank you for staying an hour past your clock-off time to help coordinate and obtain care for the patient and their family.
